I understand what can be done with selections, and unfortunately it won't help my plight. I have a youtube video showing me drawing the lines with Stroke, and some line I drew freehand with a mouse. I do the same thing in Photoshop, but that don't show the selection copied in the lines, it just draws the lines. If it has the dash lines copied into the line then you can use the ctrl key to select the lines and fill them to get solid lines. Then when you use stroke, it draws the line on the new layer. If you have a shape filled in, you can start a new layer, and while you are on that new layer you can hold the ctrl key down and click on the layer icon to select that shape. It always includes the selection line to be copied in the line it draws, but the only way you can use stroke to draw the lines is have something selected. All you need to use stroke to draw the lines is has something selected. You can create any shape you want and select it or use selection tools to fill in a shape. I am not sure about paths, but there are selection tools. I should also note that I want to avoid creating lineart in Gimp and exporting it to Krita for coloring, if I can. I would be interested in transitioning to Krita and taking advantage of its far more sophisticated options, particularly brush creation, but if I can't do lineart equally as efficient as I can in Gimp, it makes Krita less appealing to me. To those who are familiar with Krita, does Krita have a method of creating paths in a similar way to Gimp's? So far, I have not found a way to be able to manipulate a line in between vertices, and this is a huge setback when it comes to my lineart. Krita's Path tools as I currently understand them does not work the same way, specifically when it comes to manipulating the lines prior to stroking, filling, etc. In Gimp, the Paths tool allows you to create lines and vertices freely before having the options of stroking, filling, or creating selections from the lines you create. However, one of the most important tools I use for my lineart, Paths, does not seem to be remotely similar in function or flexibility in Krita in comparison to Gimp. I've recently been trying out the free art program Krita after 8 years of exclusively using Gimp, another free art/photo manipulation program.
